Investors meet additive manufacturing

by Hans Diederichs

In order to further promote access by the investment sector to companies in additive manufacturing, the US consulting firm Wohlers Associates, Inc., with support from Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, is for the first time hosting an exclusive dinner for investors as part of the Formnext 2019 trade fair. The “Wohlers Associates Investor Dinner,” which takes place on 20 November 2019, will inform investors about the current status and the prospects of additive manufacturing (AM) processes and of industrial 3D printing worldwide.

Formnext is the prominent platform enabling investors to obtain information about the latest and future trends in this industry. Formnext serves as a strong platform for young start-ups and established companies alike. And for innovative and up-and-coming companies, access to investors in a fast-growing market plays an important role for corporate development and successful market penetration. “That is why we are looking forward to using the Wohlers Associates Investor Dinner at Formnext 2019 to help investors discover the additive industry and its enormous market potential,” comments Sascha F. Wenzler of the Formnext Division Management, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.

Every year at Formnext, visitors experience many new technologies and services that continue to advance the development of additive manufacturing worldwide. With  2018 growth of 33.5 percent, the AM industry offers better economic opportunities for companies and investors than almost any other area of industry (see diagram). “With an unparalleled number of developments in machinery, materials, services, and applications in the AM industry, it is now time for investors to expand their understanding of where this development is taking us,” says Terry Wohlers, Principal Consultant and President of Wohlers Associates. “For this reason, our consulting firm is working hard to educate and assist investors,” adds Wohlers.

As documented in Wohlers Report 2019, Wohlers Associates has tracked 107 current AM-related investments. With an estimated total volume of US$1.45 billion, they illustrate the growing interest worldwide. Those participating in this special evening event will receive a copy of the Wohlers Report as part of the registration.
