thyssenkrupp supplies individual solutions for its customers

by Hans Diederichs

When it comes to tailor-made solutions and many years of consulting and engineering expertise from powder metal to 3D finished parts made of metal or plastic, thyssenkrupp is one of the industry's leading service providers. With thyssenkrupp Materials Trading, TechCenter Additive Manufacturing and RIAS, three Group companies ensure that customers and business partners receive full-service solutions from a single source. All three thyssenkrupp units will present this bundled know-how at a joint stand at this year's Formnext (Hall 11.1, Stand B10), which will be held in Frankfurt from November 19 to 22.

"Close cooperation within the Group enables us to supply our customers' entire supply chain. This means that we support our partners from special powders to consulting, warehousing, development, quality testing and printed series production and develop individual solutions for them," explains Dr. Dieter Pyrasch, head of powder metallurgy at thyssenkrupp Materials Trading. His team consists of experts in high-quality powder metals and special powders. "We are wherever our customers need us, and our worldwide sourcing and employee network ensures that we can offer our customers tailor-made solutions for their requirements at short notice," says Pyrasch.

High-quality powder metals to printed series parts

While the experts at thyssenkrupp Materials Trading ensure that the right powder is available thanks to their many years of materials expertise, colleagues at RIAS and the Additive Manufacturing TechCenter take care of additive manufacturing. The Danish company RIAS specializes in 3D printing from plastic parts and is also one of the leading suppliers of semi-finished plastic products in the Scandinavian market.

At the TechCenter in Mülheim, thyssenkrupp manufactures individual components. Together with customers, specialists determine which of the current 3D printing processes and materials are best suited to the desired requirements. "At our TechCenter Additive Manufacturing in Mülheim, the heart of our agile start-up, we have pooled our technical expertise for our customers. With our ultra-modern industrial printers for metals and plastics, we ensure that our customer’s requirements - whether functional samples or series production - can be met at industry level with the appropriate quality and reproducibility," explains TechCenter head Dr. Markus Oles.
