Voestalpine AG: Hubert Zajicek will join the management board

At a meeting, the Supervisory Board of voestalpine AG has decided on the future management of the Steel Division: Hubert Zajicek will succeed Herbert Eibensteiner on 3 July 2019, who will be CEO of the entire Group of CEO Wolfgang Eder at that time, as head of the division with the highest sales , Born in Upper Austria, Zajicek, who has been responsible for the Technology division of the Steel Division since 2014, is thus also a member of the six-member Executive Board of voestalpine AG. The contract period for Zajicek is therefore July 3, 2019 to March 31, 2024. The steel division, headquartered in Linz, which specializes in the production of top-quality steel grades and high-tech products, achieved sales of 4.8 billion euros in the past fiscal year and employs around 11,000 people.

About half a year after the announcement of the succession plan at the head of the technology and industrial goods group, today's Supervisory Board meeting of voestalpine AG also paves the way for the future leadership of the Steel Division.

Following the expiry of his current contract, CEO Wolfgang Eder will hand over the CEO of the Group to Herbert Eibensteiner on 3 July 2019 (Annual General Meeting of voestalpine AG). Eibensteiner's current position as a member of the Executive Board of voestalpine AG and Head of the Steel Division goes to Hubert Zajicek. As already communicated, the contracts of the other members of the Management Board of voestalpine AG continue to run until 31 March 2024, maintaining their respective areas of responsibility.

Hubert Zajicek (50), who has held the position of Chief Technology Officer within the Steel Division since 2014, brings with him extensive experience in senior positions within the Group in his new role.

After completing his studies of technical physics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Zajicek began his career in 1993 as a mechanical engineer in voestalpine Stahl GmbH. In the following years, he was instrumental in the realization of the major investment program "Linz 2010" and completed an extra-occupational MBA program at the Rotman Business School in Toronto, Canada. Later, he became head of the Technical Service and Energy division and, from 2010, assumed responsibility for the cold rolling mills and finishing operations in Linz. Zajicek's services also include the successful completion of numerous international research collaborations as well as projects with customers and suppliers all over the world.
